The bike bus is ready to roll again! We will start riding the SECOND Wednesday of the school year (Wednesday, September 2) and ride every Wednesday until Thanksgiving break (Final ride: November 18). (Note: weather cancellations will be rare and will go out via email by 7am on the morning of the ride.)

Nothing has changed about the route or timing. The attached flyer has it all. If you know new people who want to join, have them fill out THIS FORM (you do not need to fill it out again!).

Please review the rules of the ride with your kids:

• Stay behind leader
• Ride in a straight line
• Give other riders space (4 riders side-by-side MAXIMUM, 3 is better)
• No riding into oncoming traffic, stay right!
• This is a joyful cruise together: No racing or fighting for position in front
• Communicate and listen to adults

Everything went great last year. Please remind kids to stay steady with their speed and limit side-to-side movements so we minimize contact and crashes.

RUN TOUGH FOR TEAM OWEN — SEPTEMBER 12

Join fellow Mann families and the Oak Park community for Run Tough for Team Owen on Saturday, September 12 & the annual Team Owen Block Party on the 900 block of North Grove from 11 a.m.–7 p.m.

For families who may be new to Mann, Team Owen honors Owen Petrzelka, a Mann student (and big brother to 5th grader Sydney and 2nd grader Wyatt) who was diagnosed with DIPG, an aggressive pediatric brain cancer, at age five. Owen passed away in 2020, but his incredible spirit, strength, and infectious joy continue to bring our community together while raising critical funds for DIPG research through the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation.

Run, walk, bike, or join the fun from anywhere — and celebrate at the block party with food, music, activities, and plenty of Team Owen spirit.

Our Instrumental Music Staff will be available for students and families to view and try out instruments at our their open house on Sep 8th and 10th, as well as music vendors, to assist families in renting a band or orchestra instrument. There is no cost for participating in musiclessons, however, families must provide an instrument for their student. For families who qualify, PING is a community organization who provides instrumental rental for your student at a very small annual fee. For more information about PING, go to www.pingoprf.org.

Registration Closes on Sunday, Sep. 13th

• Intermediate Instrumental Rehearsals begin week of September 14th

Elementary Instrumental Music Recruitment Dates & Times

Oak Park Elementary School District 97 welcomes all 4th & 5th grade students to our Annual Open Houses for Beginning Band & Orchestra for the 2026/2027 School Year.

Open House Recruitment Nights
Tuesday, Sep 8th, 2026 Julian 5-8 pm
Thursday, Sep 10th, 2026 Julian 5-8 pm

Recruitment Assembly
Mann will be hosting a recruitment assembly for all 4th Grade Homerooms and any 5th graders who are interested in participating in beginning band & orchestra if they didn't last school year on TUESDAY, September 1st, 2026 from 2:00-2:45.

Our Instrumental Music Staff will be available for students and families to view and try out instruments at our their open house on Sep 8th and 10th, as well as music vendors, to assist families in renting a band or orchestra instrument. There is no cost for participating in musiclessons, however, families must provide an instrument for their student. For families who qualify, PING is a community organization who provides instrumental rental for your student at a very small annual fee. For more information about PING, go to www.pingoprf.org.

Hello bike-to-school enthusiasts,

The bike bus is ready to roll again! We will start riding the SECOND Wednesday of the school year (Wednesday, September 2) and ride every Wednesday until Thanksgiving break (Final ride: November 18). (Note: weather cancellations will be rare and will go out via email by 7am on the morning of the ride.)

Nothing has changed about the route or timing. The attached flyer has it all. If you know new people who want to join, have them fill out THIS FORM (you do not need to fill it out again!).

Please review the rules of the ride with your kids:

• Stay behind leader
• Ride in a straight line
• Give other riders space (4 riders side-by-side MAXIMUM, 3 is better)
• No riding into oncoming traffic, stay right!
• This is a joyful cruise together: No racing or fighting for position in front
• Communicate and listen to adults

Everything went great last year. Please remind kids to stay steady with their speed and limit side-to-side movements so we minimize contact and crashes.
